Light on Lynne

I painted this study very early after making the aquaintance of Gil Nadin in the evening class she organised in St Martins and St Faiths School in Lincoln. Her encouragement ant help meant a lot to my development and my confidence.  When I exhibited this painting in Germany one viewer criticised it for its lack of model ‘pin-up’ qualities in the earshot of my sponsor there - Anke Ikella Matiba  Kohlhausen (IMKA). She gave a strong rebuttal of his point of view in that Ladies come in all shapes and sizes. In fact, the distortions are all down to me as  Lynne had in fact very fine proportions. I was not so much concerned with anatomical accuracy as with the light from the window on her hair and her  back
